Receiving regular, targeted massage can help athletes (and active persons) maintain optimal muscle strength and flexibility (and thus peak performance) as well as prevent injury. Massage can also be excellent for detecting patterns of tightness– allowing you to adjust your exercise to prevent potential problems.
A moderately active person should receive massage at least once a month. A vigorously active person should receive massage every 1-2 weeks.
